Privacy Policy for Mnemosyne
Mnemosyne is a private communication and living-memory app designed around quick private calls, trusted rooms, local memory composition and on-device AI with minimal data collection.
1. Information We Collect or Process
Most user content is designed to remain on the user’s device. Depending on the features you use, the app may access or process:
- Microphone audio for Quick Call, Sanctuary voice rooms, speech-to-text and other voice features.
- Files, images or photos that you explicitly select to attach or share.
- Local compositions, notes, memories and app settings stored on the device.
- A device identifier or app-generated UID used for pairing, signaling and trusted-device communication.
- Call signaling data such as caller/callee identifiers, session IDs, timestamps, SDP/ICE connection information and call status.
- Presence information used to indicate whether a trusted device may be reachable.
- Technical request data, including IP address and server logs, when downloading on-device AI model files or other app resources.
Mnemosyne does not intentionally collect the contents of private local memories, notes, compositions or on-device AI conversations for advertising or resale.
2. How We Use Information
- Connect Quick Calls between trusted devices.
- Support Sanctuary rooms and private sharing features.
- Display availability and call status.
- Deliver optional on-device AI model downloads and app resources.
- Maintain service security, reliability and basic technical operation.
- Respond to support requests.
3. Local Data and On-device AI
Mnemosyne follows a local-first approach. Compositions, memory entries, local AI reflections and downloaded model files are stored on the device unless the user chooses to share something. Supported AI features can run locally after the required model is downloaded. Removing the app may also remove local app data and downloaded model files from the device.
4. Calls and Signaling
Voice communication uses WebRTC. Media is intended to connect peer-to-peer where possible. Services such as Firebase/Firestore or similar infrastructure may be used for signaling data that helps devices discover and connect to each other.
5. File Sharing
When you choose to share a file, image or text with another participant, that content becomes available to the intended recipient. Only share content with people you trust.
6. Third-party Services
Mnemosyne may use third-party services including Firebase/Google Cloud for signaling, presence or infrastructure; Google Play services for distribution and platform functionality; and hosting services used to deliver app resources such as downloadable on-device AI model files. Those providers may process technical data under their own privacy and security practices.
7. Advertising and Data Sale
Mnemosyne does not sell user data. The current version does not use behavioral advertising or advertising SDKs.
8. Data Retention
Local data remains on the device until the user deletes it or removes the app. Server-side signaling, presence or technical records may be retained for a limited period for service operation, debugging, security or abuse prevention and may be deleted or rotated periodically.
9. User Control
Where supported, users can delete local memories, notes and compositions, remove trusted contacts, uninstall the app to remove local app data, and contact us with privacy questions or support requests.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical measures to protect app data and infrastructure, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Users should avoid sending sensitive information to people they do not trust.
11. Children’s Privacy
Mnemosyne is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
12. International Use
When Mnemosyne is used outside the user’s country of residence, technical data may be processed in countries where our infrastructure providers operate.
13. Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated as Mnemosyne develops. The latest version and effective date will be published on this page.
