Mnemosyne is a private communication and living memory app. Our goal is to provide private quick calls, private rooms, local memory composition, and on-device AI features with minimal data collection.

1. Information We Collect

Mnemosyne is designed to keep most user content on the user’s device.

The app may access or process the following information:

  • Microphone audio for Quick Call, Sanctuary voice rooms, speech-to-text, and voice features.

  • User-selected files, images, and photos when the user chooses to attach or share them.

  • Local compositions, notes, memories, and app settings, stored on the device.

  • Device identifier / app-generated UID, used for contact pairing, call signaling, and trusted device communication.

  • Call signaling metadata, such as caller ID, callee ID, session ID, timestamps, SDP/ICE connection data, and call status.

  • Presence status, such as whether a trusted device may be reachable.

  • Model download request data, such as IP address and server logs, when downloading the on-device AI model from our server.

Mnemosyne does not intentionally collect the content of your private local memories, notes, compositions, or on-device AI conversations for advertising or resale.

2. How We Use Information

We use information only to provide and improve the app’s core functions:

  • To connect Quick Calls between trusted devices.

  • To support Sanctuary rooms and private sharing features.

  • To show contact availability and call status.

  • To allow users to download the on-device AI model.

  • To maintain app stability, security, and basic service operation.

  • To respond to user support requests.

3. Local Data and On-device AI

Mnemosyne is designed around local-first privacy.

Your compositions, memory entries, local AI reflections, and downloaded AI model files are stored on your device unless you choose to share something.

The on-device AI model is downloaded separately after installation. Once downloaded, supported AI features can run locally on your device.

If you delete the app, local app data and downloaded model files may be removed from your device.

4. Calls and Signaling

Mnemosyne uses WebRTC technology for voice communication. Voice call media is intended to connect peer-to-peer where possible.

To establish calls, the app may use Firebase/Firestore or similar services for signaling data such as session IDs, connection candidates, and call status. This signaling data is used to help devices find and connect to each other.

5. File Sharing

When you choose to share a file, image, or text inside Sanctuary or another sharing feature, the selected content may be made available to the intended participant(s). You should only share content that you want the other participant(s) to receive.

6. Third-party Services

Mnemosyne may use the following third-party services:

  • Firebase / Google Cloud for signaling, presence, and service infrastructure.

  • Google Play services for app distribution and platform functionality.

  • Asylonia.com hosting for downloadable app resources such as on-device AI model files.

These services may process technical data according to their own privacy and security practices.

7. Advertising and Data Sale

Mnemosyne does not sell user data.

Mnemosyne does not use behavioral advertising or advertising SDKs in this version of the app.

8. Data Retention

Local data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.

Server-side signaling or presence records are used for connection purposes and may be retained for a limited time for technical operation, debugging, or abuse prevention. We may delete or rotate these records periodically.

9. User Control

You can control your data by:

  • Deleting local memories, notes, or compositions inside the app where available.

  • Removing contacts from your trusted contact list.

  • Uninstalling the app to remove local app data from your device.

  • Contacting us to request help regarding data or privacy questions.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical measures to protect app data and service infrastructure. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Users should avoid sharing sensitive files, personal information, or private content with people they do not trust.

11. Children’s Privacy

Mnemosyne is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

12. International Use

If you use Mnemosyne outside your country of residence, technical data may be processed in countries where our service providers operate.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Mnemosyne develops. Updates will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
